7th April 2022 Lake Coolmunda to Kwiambal National Park
What an amazing morning to wake up to
But then did a bit of a detour via Beebo.
Pretty drive towards the Dumaresq River over a few minor flooded sections of the road
Road in good condition

I had planned a route based on the fact that the RACQ web site didn’t have any flood warnings along the route that I had planned. Silly me hadn’t realised that the route that I had planned went over the border and RACQ road warnings didn’t cover that area!!!
Sooo when we reached the river crossing this is what we found…..
And we weren’t even game to ignore this warning!!! This is the road !!!!
So then we had to find somewhere to turn - a bit of off-roading did the trick…

So we continued on to Texas along the Texas Yelarbon Rd - flat, treeless farming land
Till we rejoined the Inglewood Texas Rd
An imposing sculpture at the entrance to town

Then crossed over the Dumaresq River
Into NSW

Continued on along the Texas Rd until it junctioned with the Bruxner Highway.
Continued along the Bruxner Highway to Yetman

Where we then turned off onto the Warialda Rd and followed the signs to Kwiambal.
Then a further turn off along that road onto Limestone Rd, passing the Limestone Caves. We stopped off there to check them out but they were closed off ☹️
Instead of site1 which was much more sloping and smaller and too difficult to back into

We will just have to hope there isn’t too much rain now

The route of our days travels…
This was the view from inside the van at 5:30

We were in no hurry to pack up and head out as we didn’t have far to travel and we needed more time for the solar panels to do their stuff as we didn’t get much of a charge in them yesterday.
So I just had to get up and out to enjoy it

I wandered along the shores of the lake and chatted to a couple of the other campers that were there.
We left the site at about 10am in the end and headed for Inglewood. We then headed south towards Texas,

So we continued on to Texas along the Texas Yelarbon Rd - flat, treeless farming land
Till we rejoined the Inglewood Texas Rd
Stopped off in Texas to refuel and grab a bite to eat

We were going to check out the town of North Star but the road there didn’t look all that inviting, so we pushed on to Kwiambal, through Wallangra eventually reaching the turn off to Kwiambal - Sandy Creek Rd
Then a further turn off along that road onto Limestone Rd, passing the Limestone Caves. We stopped off there to check them out but they were closed off ☹️
So then on to the Kookibitta campsite where we had booked.
Unfortunately the site allocated to us was not suitable - too difficult to get into, too small and too sloping so we went to set up in another one, but then I was concerned that it was booked out. The phone signal and reception was not good but I did manage to get in touch with Heidi who, thank goodness managed to get in touch with the NSW NPs office to change our booking. So now set up on site 4
